STORY PART 3 — My Ex Declared Our Baby Dead Before He Was Born

4.9Editorial score

Because I was his legal custodial parent, I held the voting authority unless a court ruled me unfit.

That explained Julian’s visit to the hospital.

He had not come because he suddenly cared about his child.

He had come to obtain my signature before I understood what my son’s birth meant.

The next attack began immediately.

Julian filed an emergency custody petition alleging that I was financially unstable, emotionally distressed, and unable to provide a safe home.

Eleanor submitted an affidavit describing me as manipulative and obsessed with the Vance fortune.

Their filing omitted the frozen account, the canceled insurance, the forged medical record, and the guardianship clause hidden inside the hospital paperwork.

My former law firm agreed to represent me after reviewing the folder.

The senior partner, Mara Chen, had supervised my auditing work years earlier.

“You documented this better than most investigators would have,” she told me.

“Now let them explain it under oath.”

The emergency hearing took place six days after my son’s birth.

I entered the courtroom slowly, still sore and exhausted, with my baby sleeping against me in a carrier.

Julian sat at the opposite table beside Eleanor and a new team of attorneys.

He wore a navy suit and the expression of a man certain money could restore the natural order of his world.

The judge began with the custody petition.

Julian’s lawyer argued that I lacked income, family support, and suitable medical coverage.

Mara responded with the notice showing that Julian had canceled my insurance four days after learning I was pregnant.

She presented his message calling me no longer his responsibility and the records proving he had frozen funds used for prenatal care.

The hotel laundry supervisor testified by video that I had never missed a shift until the day I gave birth.

A nurse testified that I arrived alone, in active labor, carrying organized medical records and emergency supplies for the baby.

Then Mara displayed the email.

Starve her until she gives up custody.

The courtroom went silent.

Julian claimed the sentence was taken out of context.

The judge asked what context would make it appropriate.

He had no answer.

Adrian testified next.

He explained the trust, the forged certification, and his refusal to authorize the transfer.

Julian’s attorney tried to portray him as a bitter estranged brother seeking revenge.

Adrian did not flinch.

“I left the family company after I discovered that Mrs.

Vance was diverting charitable hospital funds through private vendors,” he said.

“My father appointed me trust protector because he feared the same conduct would continue after his death.”

Eleanor whispered urgently to her lawyer.

Mara then introduced the shell-company records from my folder.

The judge did not rule on the financial allegations because they belonged in a separate civil and criminal investigation.

She did, however, order the records preserved and referred them to the state attorney general’s office.

Julian’s confidence finally broke when the guardianship agreement appeared on the courtroom screen.

He had described it as a temporary safety measure.

The permanent transfer of custodial voting rights was highlighted in yellow.

“Did you explain this provision to Ms.

Vance?” the judge asked.

Julian looked at his attorney.

His attorney looked down.

“I believed she would have counsel review it,” he said.

“You presented it to her minutes after childbirth while claiming she had no one to help her.”

“I was protecting my son.”

The judge’s eyes moved to the fetal-death certification.

“You declared that same son dead before he was born.”

Julian said nothing.

The judge denied his request for custody.

She granted me sole temporary legal and physical custody, prohibited Julian and Eleanor from contacting me outside supervised legal channels, and froze any transfer of trust-related shares pending a full investigation.

She also ordered Julian to restore my health coverage, release my share of the marital funds, and pay temporary support.
