“The recording shows you pushing a woman ten days postpartum down two steps while she held two newborn children.”
Adrian glanced at the guard.
“Delete it.”
The guard’s expression did not change.
“The footage was copied to three secure servers before Ms.
Vale’s vehicles entered the drive.”
It was the first moment Claire saw genuine fear in her husband’s eyes.
Mara handed Vivian a single-page notice.
“You have thirty minutes to collect medication, identification, and essential personal items.
The remaining belongings will be inventoried and delivered after counsel confirms an address.”
Vivian tore the notice in half.
“You think a piece of paper can remove me?”
“No,” Claire said quietly.
“The deed can.”
Vivian stepped toward her, diamonds flashing at her throat.
“You ungrateful little fraud.
We welcomed you.
We gave you status.
Without my son, you would be nothing.”
Claire looked through the open doorway at the marble floors she had paid for, the staff whose salaries came from her accounts, and the guests’ coats still hanging from Vivian’s private dinner upstairs.
“You gave me ten minutes in the snow,” she said.
“That was enough.”
Police arrived before Vivian’s thirty minutes expired.
Adrian brightened when he saw the patrol lights.
“Good.
Tell them she’s trespassing and stealing our property.”
The first officer approached Mara, reviewed the deed, the occupancy agreement, and the preserved footage.
A second officer spoke privately with Claire beside the heated vehicle.
A paramedic checked the twins while Claire described the shove, the locked gate, and the threat to leave the babies outside.
Adrian interrupted twice.
The officer finally turned to him.
“Sir, step back.”
“I am the victim here.”
“You are being investigated for domestic assault and child endangerment.
Step back now.”
Vivian began shouting about her family’s reputation.
Adrian’s sister quietly moved away from her.
Then another car entered the drive.
A tall man in a gray overcoat emerged carrying a leather case.
Adrian recognized him immediately: Daniel Ross, chair of Vale Global’s audit committee.
Adrian had spent six months trying to impress him.
“Daniel,” he said, forcing a laugh.
“This is a private marital dispute.
Claire is creating a scene because I asked for a paternity test.”
Daniel stopped beside Mara.
“The board convened an emergency session twelve minutes ago.”
Adrian straightened.
“Then you know I’m essential to the Singapore acquisition.”
“The acquisition you attempted to redirect through a shell consultancy owned by your mother?”
The snow seemed to swallow every sound.
Vivian’s expression changed before Adrian’s did.
Claire noticed.
Mara opened another section of the red folder.
Inside were payment records, vendor contracts, and copies of emails Adrian believed he had deleted.
The forged paternity report had triggered Claire’s private investigation, but it had uncovered more than a family scheme.
