which Kevin had arranged through one of the entities under review, had been frozen with the rest of the disputed transactions.

Now, standing in his kitchen, Kevin finally understood that Sarah’s silence had never meant surrender.

“Play the video,” Daniel said.

Kevin turned sharply.

“No.”

Daniel ignored him.

“Claire, play it.”

Claire looked at him.

“Your attorney should review the full file.”

“I’m asking what my business partner did with company money.”

“Former business partner,” Kevin snapped.

Daniel stared at him.

“You really still think you’re in charge.”

Claire pressed play.

The video had been recorded accidentally at first.

Kevin had apparently left the second phone propped on his desk after filming a short message for Megan.

The camera continued recording.

His voice filled the kitchen.

On-screen, Kevin sat behind his office desk talking to Martin Bell, the company accountant.

“Move another hundred twenty into Easton,” Kevin said.

Martin looked uncomfortable.

“Daniel may notice.”

“Daniel notices what I tell him to notice.”

“And Sarah?”

Kevin laughed.

“Sarah signs Christmas cards and picks nursery colors.

She doesn’t know what half these companies do.”

Daniel closed his eyes briefly.

The video continued.

Martin asked, “What happens when you file?”

Kevin leaned back.

“By then the cash is outside the marital picture.

She’ll get the house if she behaves.”

“And the shares?”

Kevin waved one hand.

“Old paperwork.

Nobody’s enforced that agreement in eleven years.”

The video ended.

The kitchen became silent again.

Kevin stared at the dark screen.

Then he did what Claire had expected.

He attacked.

“Martin set me up.”

Daniel looked at him in disbelief.

“We just watched you speak.”

“You don’t know the context.”

“What context makes that acceptable?”

“This company needed flexibility.”

“You were moving money to hide it from your pregnant wife.”

Kevin’s face reddened.

“My marriage is none of your business.”

Daniel stepped closer.

“You made it company business when you used company accounts.”

Kevin turned toward Claire.

“Where is Sarah?”

“Safe.”

“I asked where.”

“And I answered as much as I intend to.”

“She’s carrying my daughter.”

Claire’s gaze hardened.

“Then perhaps you should not have written messages describing how you planned to use her financial dependence against her after childbirth.”

Kevin flinched.

For the first time, he seemed to understand exactly how much Sarah had seen.

Over the next forty-eight hours, his world narrowed quickly.

Company counsel placed him on administrative leave pending an internal review.

The board ratified the temporary suspension of his voting authority.

Banks froze transactions connected to the disputed entities.

Martin Bell retained his own attorney and began cooperating.

Megan called Kevin seventeen times.

He answered the eighteenth.

“Did you use company money for the apartment?” she demanded.

“It’s complicated.”

“There are attorneys calling me.”

“Don’t speak to them.”

“They asked whether I knew you were married when you signed the lease.”

Kevin went silent.

Megan’s voice became colder.

“You told me Sarah knew you were separated.”

“We were emotionally separated.”

“You spent Christmas Eve telling me she was too weak to leave you.”

Kevin heard the words too late.

Claire’s preservation request had already reached Megan’s attorney.

Megan, frightened that she might be pulled into financial litigation, handed over her messages voluntarily.

Those messages filled gaps even Sarah’s evidence could not.

Kevin had promised Megan an ownership stake he
