His access to Omnitech systems, aircraft, offices, and financial accounts was revoked.

Stock options connected to his employment were suspended pending litigation.

The company would seek recovery of misused funds and legal costs.

Dominic read the resolution, then looked up with a sneer.

“You need me.

Voss won’t negotiate with anyone else.”

“We are not negotiating with him,” Evelyn said.

Priya changed the screen again.

At 7:05 that morning, Whitmore Holdings had notified Northstar’s board of the unauthorized transfer and supplied preliminary evidence of Voss’s involvement.

Northstar’s independent directors had suspended Voss and opened an external investigation.

The bridge account was frozen before the money could move again.

The patent option had never been executed.

Dominic’s promised position no longer existed.

His sneer vanished.

A knock sounded at the boardroom door.

Two investigators from the Nevada attorney general’s financial fraud unit entered with a federal agent assigned to corporate crimes.

Marisol had already provided them with copies of the forged authorizations, the recorded call, and the transaction history.

Dominic stood so abruptly that his chair struck the wall.

“This is a family dispute,” he said.

The federal agent looked at the screen showing the diverted funds.

“Your family has unusually detailed bank records.”

Dominic turned toward Evelyn.

“You called the government on your own husband?”

“I reported forged corporate documents.”

“You could have protected me.”

“I did protect you,” she replied.

“For years.

I defended your judgment.

I supported your promotions.

I trusted your explanations.

You used every act of loyalty as cover.”

The investigators did not arrest him immediately.

They collected his company devices, served document-preservation notices, and informed him that he was not to contact potential witnesses or access restricted systems.

That restraint seemed to restore a little of his arrogance.

He straightened his jacket.

“This will disappear,” he said.

“It always does.”

Vanessa stepped forward.

“No,” she said.

“It won’t.”

She handed her second phone to the federal agent.

Dominic stared at her.

“You were part of this.”

“I was stupid,” Vanessa said.

“I believed you were separated.

I believed the consulting work was real.

I believed you had approval.” She swallowed.

“But I didn’t forge her name.”

“You took the money.”

“And I’m giving them everything.”

Her cooperation did not erase her role.

She would still face civil claims, repay money she could not justify, and answer investigators’ questions.

But the messages on her phone completed the timeline and showed that Dominic had directed the scheme.

The humiliation she had inflicted on Evelyn also returned to her with brutal clarity.

Vanessa looked at the five-dollar bill.
