Julian lunged toward the laptop the moment his voice came through the speakers.
Marcus Hale closed one hand over the computer and pulled it out of reach.
The hospital security officer stepped forward automatically, then stopped when Naomi Cross raised the court order.
“No one touches the evidence,” she said.
The corridor video showed a deserted maternity floor at 2:13 in the morning.
A timestamp glowed in the corner.
Room Seven stood at the end of the hall, its blinds closed and its lights dimmed.
Chloe appeared first.
She wore the same pale blue maternity coat she had owned for months.
One hand supported her belly.
The other clutched a folder against her chest.
Julian followed her into the frame.
The camera had no clear view inside the room, but it captured the open doorway and every word that carried into the corridor.
“I asked for another surgeon,” Chloe’s recorded voice said.
“You canceled the request,” Julian replied.
“Because I don’t want you operating on me.”
There was a pause.
Then his voice changed.
The polished warmth disappeared.
“You will deliver where I say, when I say, under the team I choose.”
“I’m your wife, not your property.”
A sharp sound came from inside the room.
Chloe’s folder slid across the floor and stopped in the hallway.
On the video, Julian bent to retrieve it.
When he stood, he looked directly toward the security camera.
“Cameras fail all the time,” he said.
Then he closed the door.
The recording continued for eighteen seconds.
Chloe’s voice became too faint to distinguish, but Julian’s final sentence was clear.
“If you humiliate me, you won’t wake up after the surgery.”
No one in the hallway moved when the video ended.
The administrators who had arrived behind Julian stared at the dark laptop screen.
The security officer slowly lowered his hand from his radio.
Julian looked at Elena Park.
“You stole confidential hospital material.”
Elena’s face had gone white, but she did not step back.
“I preserved evidence after you ordered me to destroy it.”
“You misunderstood a routine request.”
“You told me to wipe the corridor archive and sign a statement saying the system malfunctioned.”
Julian turned toward Chloe.
His expression softened with frightening speed.
“This is being taken out of context,” he said.
“You were frightened.
I was trying to calm you down.”
Chloe stood behind me with both hands wrapped around her belly.
“You hit me in that room.”
He lowered his voice.
“You know that isn’t what happened.”
The old reflex crossed her face.
I saw the doubt he had planted there over months of corrections, warnings, and quiet punishments.
He had taught her that reality belonged to whoever spoke with the most confidence.
I reached back and took her hand.
“Say only what is true,” I told her.
Chloe looked at him.
“You hit me,” she repeated.
