Ethan’s hand closed around his father’s wrist before Victor could reach the sealed envelope.

For one suspended moment, neither man moved.

The ballroom remained so quiet that Emma could hear the soft crackle of candles beneath the white rose arch.

Claire stood alone at the altar, still wearing her veil.

The four children pressed close to Emma’s coat while hundreds of guests watched the Harrison family’s perfect public image split open.

Ethan released his father.

“Open it,” he told Maya.

Maya Chen broke the seal and removed a forensic report.

The first page contained a printed email dated five years earlier.

Ethan recognized it immediately.

It was the message that had ended everything.

Emma supposedly wrote that she had accepted Victor’s money, terminated her pregnancy, and wanted Ethan to forget she had ever existed.

The final sentence read, “Do not look for me.”

Ethan had carried those words like a blade for five years.

Victor recovered quickly.

He straightened his cuff and faced the guests as though he were correcting a minor misunderstanding at a board meeting.

“Emma sent that message,” he said.

“My office merely preserved a copy.”

Maya turned the report toward him.

“The message did not originate from Emma Carter’s account.

It was created on a workstation inside your private office suite at 11:42 p.m.

on the night Ms.

Carter signed the agreement.

The login credentials belonged to your executive administrator.”

Every head turned toward Nora Bell.

Nora’s face was pale, but her voice was steady.

“Mr.

Harrison ordered me to draft it.”

Victor stared at her.

“Think carefully about what you are saying.”

“I have thought about it for five years.”

Nora placed a leather courier ledger on the table.

Each page contained dates, tracking numbers, and delivery signatures.

Ethan stepped closer and saw his own handwriting repeated down the column.

Twenty-three letters.

All addressed to Emma.

All delivered to Victor’s office after Emma disappeared.

None forwarded.

“You told me the letters were returned,” Ethan said.

Victor’s expression hardened.

“Because she did not want them.”

Maya removed photographs from the folder.

They showed Victor’s private safe standing open.

Inside were Ethan’s letters, still sealed, bundled with a black ribbon.

Emma stared at the envelopes.

Some were thick.

Others looked as though they held only a single page.

One had a faint water stain across the corner.

“I never saw them,” she said.

Ethan picked up the photograph with shaking hands.

“The first letter begged you to call me.

The second said I was coming home.

The third said I didn’t care about the money.”

He looked at Victor.

“You knew I was searching for her.”
